What About a Regime Change in Pyongyang?

North Korea is a tough regime to change. Some even affirm it is unchangeable by traditional means. The belligerent behaviour of North Korea is a direct result of the draconian thought and craziness of the regime’s highest leadership. Pyongyang cannot be trusted by the West nor by any of its neighbours.
The best strategy to overthrow the Stalinist-type regime is not, as many would wonder, a conventional war or rough sanctions. The best way to initiate a regime change is from inside. If North Koreans could have access to information from the outside, the regime wouldn’t be able to hold itself in power for much longer. Information about the prosperity and development of their southern neighbours would certainly be an excellent conductor of gradual resentment, and pave the way for a large-scale revolt.
Encouraging students (even if only the well-heeled ones) to study abroad would be a good starting point. Receiving western education and contacting with western culture and freedoms would for sure function as a powerful weapon against the regime.
History has proved how dictatorships suffer the destabilizing effects of having nationals who disseminate new ideas and values into a closed society. Soviet Union is a good example and North Korea could easily become the most recent one.
